Yuan 270. The catalogue of the tentative "rehearsal" for the groundbreaking International Exhibition of Chinese Art to be held in London. After deciding to participate in the exhibition, the National Government established an artistic Organising Committee, who collaborated with the British selection committee in recommending pieces from the holdings of public collections to be sent to London. The finalised collection was gathered in Shanghai and exhibited in the former German Club. The catalogue includes a 26-page essay on Chinese porcelain by Kuo P'ao-Chang. "The whole process of selecting, exhibiting and viewing in the Preliminary Exhibition affected the way in which Chinese Scholars constructed anew the history of art in China (Guo, Hui: Writing Chinese Art History in Early Twentieth-Century China. A very good copy with a minimum of external darkening. Scarce publisher's preview of the portfolio also presented in the more common "Work From the Same House" published by Trigram Press the same year. Full reproduction of the portfolio which contained sixteen images of combined photographs by Friedlander and etchings by Dine with the artists' handwritten introduction.

A total of almost nine hundred photos and designs, ca 110 in colour (besides relevant advertisements). Designed wrappers, an excellent set. A complete set of the Design Annual published between 1950 and 1965 by the Swedish Industrial Arts Association (Svenska Slöjdföreningen), containing illustrated articles on - mainly Swedish - contemporary decorative art, industrial design and architecture. Although the English subtitle was added in 1961 (no.10) the text is entirely in English from no.3 and on (except no.6 which has bilingual Swedish/German text), and nos. 1-2 have captions in English.

In 1954, Gio Ponti and Alberto Rosselli had teamed up with the Italian company La Rinascente to set up the important Compasso d'Oro design award.
