Colour reproductions of decorative painting by Desaint imitating various woods and marbles, with explanatory text by Ducroizet.

Scarce, beautifully printed and sumptuously produced monograph on painted, drawn, engraved and sculptured portrayals of Michelangelo Buonarroti. Includes indices of persons and places.

Berlin, Cassirer, (1913). 40x30. 24 pp. + 32 colour plates. 13 drawings in the text, with each page headed by a border with flower drawings printed in red. Publisher's pictorial, gilt-lettered yellow-brown cloth, decorated endpapers; a very fine copy. The German-language edition of the album 'Andras Barn' (Other's Children) with watercolour paintings and drawings, published in Swedish the same year.

Paris, Centre Georges Pompidou, 1977. 29x22. XII+732 pp. + 40 pp. chronology on apricot paper. Ca 630 photos and reproductions including 130 full-page. Publisher's printed boards. A good, solid copy with shallow cracking of paper along spine and minor paper loss from upper spine corners, interior immaculate. First edition of the massive catalogue published in conjunction with the landmark exhibition tracing the artistic interaction between Paris and New York 1905-1968.

IV+16+II pp. + 101 plates with 130 photos and one elevation; + IV+20 pp. + 101 plates (comprising 61 plates with 77 photos and 40 plates with 16 elevations and numerous detail drawings). Scarce two volume-set of the first editions, the second volume covering details and interiors. Publisher's uniform green gilt-lettered cloth, a very good set with two tiny dents in the spines, volume one with mild foxing to endpapers and to edges and margins of text leaves.

Paris, Galerie Georges Petit, 1907. 30x22. IV+64+IV pp. (inital and last leaves blank) + 14 tissue-garded photogravure plates: thirteen reproductions of paintings by Thaulow and frontispiece portrait photo of the artist. Half cloth binding by Edith Welinder, printed front wrapper (repaired in inner margin) bound in. Scarce auction catalogue constituting a catalogue raisonné of 108 paintings by the Norwegian (Dutch-born) artist Frits Thaulow, also including 37 works by other artists and 29 decorative art objects from Thaulow's own collection.

Tervuren, Dotremont, 1979. 21x15. 32 pp. including wrappers; stapled as issued. A very good copy, with a few very tiny and weak stains on front wrapper. Inscribed by Dotremont "A Marianne et Rune ce souvenirlandais avec amitié de Christian" (to the Swedish artist Rune Jansson and his wife Marianne). No. 79 of 300 numbered copies. The Logbookletter consists of reproductions of seventeen ink 'logogrammes' (the majority full-page) as well reproduced typewritten texts. Final note "Duneen, les 4 et 5 avril 1979", and according to the colophon the book is printed in Eire - hence "souvenirlandais" in the gift inscription.

Stockholm, Iduns Tryckeri Aktiebolag, 1896. 28x22. IV+82 s. + frontispis (porträttfoto) + 20 planscher varav nio med perspektiv- och fasadritningar, tio med foton av uppförda byggnader, och en med ritning till "kalkografen uppfunnen af A.E. Melander". Välbevarat exemplar av en sällsynt publikation, i samtida rödbrunt klotband med smala pärmbordyrer i guld. På titelsidan en prydlig dedikation i bläck från Melander till Karin Hjortzberg. Märkligt nog den enda separata publikationen om denna produktiva arkitekt; den enda omfattande översikten torde vara avdelningen om Melander i boken 'Stenstadens arkitekter' (red. Thomas Hall, 1981) om utbyggnaden av Stockholms innerstad 1850-1930. Ur Melanders förord: "Min svärfar, öfveringenjören A. O. Hjortzberg, hade gjort sig den vänliga mödan att från skilda håll och tidpunkter samla dessa tidningsurklipp, och vid ett tillfälle utlånades de på derom framställd begäran till Nationalmusei herrar hvilka ansågo sig hafva användning för dem vid något sitt arbete. I detta sammanhang beklagade de, att Museets samlingar af dylika aktstycken rörande våra arkitekters verksamhet vore så ofullständiga, liksom de stora svårigheter, som vore förbundna med samlandet af ett dylikt material, samt uppmanade mig att på sätt, som nu skett, låta till trycket befordra desamma". Förutom tidningsartiklarna innehåller boken texter av Melander om Riksbyggnadsfrågan, om hans förslag till bebyggnad i "Vanadislunden med omgifvande terräng", och om platsen för Stockholmsutställningen 1897, där han avråder från att förlägga den till Djurgården.

Wien, Selbstverlag der Herausgeber, (1873). 16x12. VIII+264 pp. + XII+72 pp. advertisements + 17 plates with views of Vienna + 27 plates with portraits + folding coloured town plan. Publisher's cloth with gilt lettering and Wien-Wappen. A nice copy with very light foxing to the title and dedication leaves and an old colour crayon drawing on rear endpaper.

Berlin 1909. 24x19. 68 leaves comprising title leaf, three leaves with Kohtz's introduction, 44 plates with renderings printed in black and grey, eight folding double-plates with renderings printed in red, and four leaves each with one plate with colour rendering tipped-in on to black paper. Publisher's gilt-lettered cloth. A very fine copy despite tiny scuffing of bottom inner corner. A remarkable series of designs for imaginary public buildings, prepared by Kohtz between 1904 and 1909, thus predating similar utopian designs by Bruno Taut, Hans Poelzig and other architects in the forefront of the expressionist movement. Apparently Kohtz had come under the influence of the radical architectural thinker Paul Scheerbart.

Berlin, Wasmuth, 1909. 48x32. 14; 16; 14; 14 pp. text + a total of 100 plates with ca 110 photographs, thus the majority full-page. The text is trilingual in German, French and English, and includes plans of the buildings. Text fascicles and loose plates as issued in four printed decorated reddish brown covers. An excellent set with minor, expected wear to top and bottom of the covers, otherwise in pristine condition. Complete ninth volume of this documentation of modern buildings, mainly in German cities and suburbs but including examples from Basel, Budapest, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Chicago. The majority are dwelling houses, including stately villas, among the others are commercial and office buildings, schools, churches, etc.

Loose as issued in printed cloth-back boards with ties; the portfolio slightly worn, contents fine. A photographic documentation of elaborately ornamental ironwork executed by Émile Robert mainly in Art Nouveau style, including gates, canopies, railings, balusters, shopfronts, showcases, lamps, etc. Some work composed by Robert but mostly by other French architects and designers including Lalique, Prouvé, Georges Chedanne, Henri Sauvage & Charles Sarrazin, Lucien Magne, etc.
