Sumptuously produced monograph on the first important, academically educated Norwegian architect. Includes Catalogue of Works and Projects with page references.

Publisher's gilt-lettered decorated bluegrey cloth, very light wear to head and foot of spine and extreme cover tips. Two names on front free endpaper: one dated -09, and Göran Sidenbladh's dated -43. Some pencil markings and margin notes by Sidenbladh. The fourth, revised, extended and definitive edition of Sitte's famous work on town building. This is the copy Göran Sidenbladh used when he made the Swedish translation, which was published with his commentaries in 1982. As Director of City Planning for Stockholm from 1953 through the 60s and early 70s, Sidenbladh was instrumental in the obliteration of the old city centre district (Nedre Norrmalm) and the planning of the suburbs Skärholmen, Spånga, Rinkeby, Tensta, etc.

An intense, and eventually melancholy, love story told by Niki de Saint Phalle with her idiosyncratic and occasionally psychedelic drawings.

When Gustaf Adolf ascended the throne shortly before his 68th birthday in 1950, much of his life as Crown Prince had been devoted to the assembling of an important collection of ancient Chinese pottery and other art objects.

The important Carl Kempe collection was sold to an anonymous buyer after the museum was dismantled and closed in 2008.

An attractive copy handsomely rebacked with black leather spine; very light trace of damp in upper margin corner of the frontispiece, binding slightly weakened. Major monograph on the co-founder of the Munich Secession, published thirteen years before he was ennobled Franz Ritter von Stuck.

Berlin, Wasmuth, 1908-11. 32x22. XVI+220; + VIII+240; + VIII+240 pp. + 26 pp. index. 762 photos, drawings and plans. Publisher's decorated, gilt-lettered quarter cloth. A very good set with very light external wear. Second, revised edition of the first real history - in any language - of English domestic architecture in the latter half of the 19th century (first published 1904-5). Muthesius was stationed as an architect at the German embassy in London from 1896 to 1903 to study English housing and architecture. He returned full of enthusiasm for the current movement and praised architects such as Norman Shaw, Webb, Baillie Scott, Voysey and Mackintosh at a time that many in Britain did not. The influence of this lavishly illustrated three-volume work can hardly be exaggerated. Muthesius himself sought to promote the qualities of English design in his own work and as a founder of the German Werkbund.

Loose as issued in a printed half cloth portfolio. Exterior lightly rubbed and dusty, plates very fine albeit ever so mildly darkened in outmost margins. A study and imposing photographic archive of Swedish architecture from 1530-1760 (originally issued in five parts) by the Swedish art and architecture historian Gustaf Upmark the elder. A Swedish-language edition was published posthumously in 1904.

The projects presented in the book include the exchange of postal receipts across fourteen locations along the 42º parallel of the United States; extensive site sculpture projects for New York City, Portland, and Schenecteday-Albany; Duration Pieces #1, #2 and #4 (including a suite of photographs taken at 2 minute intervals); a scheme for a snow melting sculpture, etc.

The widely influential monograph on Lutyens's domestic architecture providing splendid illustrations of all major houses and gardens with critical description, and a complete list of his works from 1888 to 1913.

First edition of this publication credited as being one of the first important books acknowledging African art in Europe, as well as an influence on the modern Cubist art promoted by Carl Einstein.
