Paris, Morancé, (ca 1925). 23x18. II+462 pp. + 24 plates with 28 illustrations, mostly reproductions of exquisite watercolour renderings. 43 reproductions of signatures and Palace monograms. A very fine copy in half brown cloth with marbled covers and gilt-lettered spine title, both printed wrappers bound in. Classic monograph on the artisan and chair and cabinet maker who oversaw one of the most successful furniture workshops in Paris from 1796 to 1825. Includes extensive records of pieces commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte and Louis XVIII, and bibliography of source material and publications.

London 1917. 29x23. XII+168 pp. + 38 leaves with 95 designs, town plans, bird's-eye perspectives and photos. 26 drawings and town plans in the text. Publisher's pictorial, cloth-backed boards. Lightly worn and spine darkened, minor foxing of endpapers. Very scarce. First edition of this astonishing collection of utopian ideas for post-war regeneration, harnessing art, religious purpose and community strength to the potential of the city (Gordon E. Cherry). Ashbee was a major force behind the Arts and Crafts movement and the founder of the Gild of Handicrafts. In a sense, 'Where the City Stands' was a summary of Ashbee's work and ideas in the ten years since the liquidation of the Guild ... At the heart of the book was a sense of the city as a progressive social force, expressing the aspirations of democracy towards a finer life (Alan Crawford).

Ca 235 photos, 35 elevations and perspectives and 100 plans. Publisher's printed cloth-backed boards. Covers and spine a little discoloured, with some light rubbing at extremities; interior fine although binding slightly shaken with minor incipient cracking. Scarce. The second coverage of architectural works published by Baillie Scott. This proved to be a timely publication, as the London office of Baillie Scott (and his assistant Beresford) was destroyed in the Blitz in 1941, together with all practice records.

Tryckt förlagspappband med klotrygg. Ett välbevarat exemplar med mycket svag bruntoning i övre marginalerna utanför bildytan, och en minimal fläck på främre pärmen. Lithographed title leaf, and seven colour lithographs of the summer palace Oscarshall which was commissioned by King Oscar I and Queen Joséphine of Norway, and completed in 1852 to the design of Johan Henrik Nebelong. Trilingual text in Norwegian, German and English.

Wien & New York 2003. 32x23. 320 pp. Ca 300 plans, drawings, photos and reproductions (39 in colour). Publisher's printed boards, very fine. The standard monograph on the Moravian-born architect, designer, theorist and author of influential books like 'Architecture Without Architects' and 'The Prodigious Builders'. Educated in Austria, he was active as an architect in Europe before he settled in Brazil where he designed several notable residences in Sao Paolo. In 1940, he was invited by MOMA to New York City where he remained based until his death in 1988, designing a number of landmark exhibitions in the 1940s, '50s and '60s, while continuing to travel extensively. Includes previously unpublished material and provides a comprehensive understanding of this central figure in twentieth-century design.

Publisher's printed boards, fine in lightly edgeworn dust jacket. The British issue of the first edition of this influential architectural-cultural history of New York, positing the mega-city as an arena for the terminal stage of Western civilisation.

Printed wrappers, entirely unopened (and kept in original cardboard slipcases with printed labels); backstrips slightly darkened, otherwise immaculate. No. 64 of an edition limited to 160 numbered copies. A pioneering and sumptuosly produced Catalogue Raisonné of important paintings and sculptures mainly by foreign (non-Scandinavian) masters in Swedish collections, all of which are identified.

First edition of Taut's utopian town building manifesto, with contributions by Paul Scheerbart, Adolf Behne and Erich Baron. Introduced by Scheerbart's Das neue Leben. Architektonische Apokalypse the central part of the book is Taut's utopian City Crown scheme, the basic argument of which was the presence in every major city of buildings serving as a focus of the community: palaces, churches etc. Taut provides a new town for the modern man, with a central City Crown of theatre and opera houses, libraries, museums and other buildings grouped around a huge crystal house in which the lonely wanderer can see his town below his feet and, above him, the rise and fall of the sun.

Bifogat kvitto på inköpet från Clas Ohlsson, daterat 8/2 1927. Bifogade är också två småskrifter av A. Alvén: 'Undervisning i färgberedning, grundning, spackling och målning' (Osby 1923, 8 s.) och 'Undervisning i ådring i ek' (Osby 1928, 12 s.), samt några småtryck och kvitton från Osby Korrespondensinstitut.

Wien & Leipzig (1903). 32 coloured plates (34x24) mounted on heavy cardboard (47x34) with caption labels on reverse sides. Loose as issued in two printed board portfolios. Twenty-four fine reproductions of attractive coloured perspective renderings of modern private houses in Germany and Austria (Vienna) and eight plates with 31 plans and elevations (to 16 of the houses). Among the architects of the houses are Josef Hoffmann, Theodor Fischer, Martin Dülfer, Friedrich Pützer, and Oskar Marmorek.

Paris (1925). 24x16. 122 pp. Drawings and plans and ca 70 photos. Neat half cloth, pictorial wrappers (with light signs of wear) preserved. A publication devoted to the New Spirit in Architecture, including the discource L'Esprit Nouveau en Architecture delivered at Sorbonne in 1924, and describing Le Corbusier's Pavillon L'Esprit Nouveau at the Paris Exhibition 1925 (the title design of which is reproduced on the book's front wrapper). Le Corbusier's survey of other recent works by him includes the studio building he designed for Ozenfant, The La Roche / Albert Jeanneret twin house in Auteuil, and other villas.

Very light foxing to a few plates, two plates with damp stain in margin, otherwise very fine. Scarce large-format album of photographs of Romanesque, transitional and Gothic pillar capitals and other ornamental building details, mainly from German churches and abbeys.

Sumptuous study and photographic documentation of the patterns and techniques of peasant art in Dalmatia as manifested in lacework, knitwork, carpet weaving, costume, jewellery, tableware, etc. Dalmatia, today a region of Croatia, was a kingdom subordinate to the Austrian / Austro-Hungarian emperors between 1815 and the First World War.
