'The Mechanical Principles of Engineering and Architecture' (London 1843) translated by H. Scheffler. As a professor at London's newly established King's College, Henry Moseley was instrumental in creating the institution's department of engineering and applied science. In the present work he draws on the latest continental work in mechanics, covering topics of interest to both military and civil engineers and architects. Notably, the American edition of the work was adopted as a textbook by the West Point Military Academy. This copy of the German edition is from the library of the Swedish-Finnish architect, engineer and town planner Georg Theodor Chiewitz (1815-1862).

A collection of essays on important buildings in London - with emphasis on more recent developments - written by Britton as well as by leading architects and historians. The plans, elevations and perspectives accompanying the essays were drawn mainly by the elder Pugin. Encouraged by the success of the publication Britton contemplated another two volumes but those never materialized.

Ink manuscript with original photographs, ca 1951. 25x18. 16 leaves on eight folded sheets, including one-page introduction listing exhibitions, publications, etc. and 16 tipped-in photographs with handwritten information on the works behind the photos. Paper covers, with pencil notes Bozzolini, c/o M. Kuleff, 9 Rue Fenoux, Paris - 15e ... 15 Iuglio al fino al 30 Settembre: Viale Garibaldi 1, Poggibonsi (Siena). Kept in original signed card covers with the artist's monogram. Enclosed are printed gallery invitations to five exhibitions 1949-1952 (one solo exhibition and four group exhibitions with Bozzolini). A compendium of fourteen paintings made 1948-1951, with dating, measures, etc. and two undated woodcuts, by Silvano Bozzolini (1911-1998). Most likely compiled by the artist himself, who has signed the covers with Bozzolini fotos and his monogram. Bozzolini studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. In 1945 he joined the group Arte d'Oggi and turned to abstract painting, and in 1947 he moved permanently to Paris.

Artek catalogue of furniture, the majority designed by Alvar Aalto (some in collaboration with Maija Heikionheimo), but including pieces designed by Aino Aalto, Antti Nurmesniemi, etc. The furniture is classified into: Bookshelves, Benches and Mirrors / Chests of Drawers and Cabinets / Garden Furniture / Armchairs / Sofas and Fauteuils / Chairs and Stools / Bedsteads / Tables / Round Tables and Special Tables. List of contents in Finnish and Swedish (a truncated version with English title and list of contents was published in the same year).

A very good copy with light, unobtrusive surface wear and a tiny, weak corner scuffing; contents very fine. Gift inscription by Strehlneek to B.W. Fleischer Esq. Benjamin Wilfred Fleischer left the USA for Japan in 1907, where he ran the newspaper Japan Advertiser between 1911 and 1930, making it one of the best edited and best connected American newspapers in East Asia.

An Optic Art work by Julio Le Parc, a founding member of Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visual, presumably distributed by Galerie Denise René as a New Year's card. The plate was drawn from Julio Le Parc's album 'Miroirs' published by Denise René in 1970.

Partly drawn from the magazine 'L'Esprit Nouveau' published by Le Corbusier and Amedée Ozenfant, the book includes a presentation of the 'Ville Contemporain' project for a modern city which is illustrated on the large folding plate.
