De film, som Bob Dylan har været involveret i siden midten af 60’erne, er umiddelbart mindre kontroversielle, men i poetens filmiske hovedværk – den fire timer lange Renaldo and Clara (1978) – var den personlige investering så hudløs, at ophavsmanden måtte sande, at filmkunsten rent faktisk kan være farlig at danse med".
