Last leaf soiled and with repairs, a few stains throughout. XXIV, 82 pp. First edition of Nolte’s important supplement to G.H. Weber’s Primitiae Florae Holsaticae, expanding and updating the flora of Holstein with newly observed plant species and revisions of earlier classifications. Nolte (1791–1875) was a leading German botanist and Director of the Botanical Garden at Kiel, here provides one of his most important contributions to regional floras.

"Rayleigh's grasp of such widely diversed fields as optics and hydrodynamics, acoustics and electromagnetic theory, was phenomenal; and only Maxwell, Kelvin, and Helmholtz came near him in this aspect of his genius."(DSB XIII, p.102).
