Peter Jonas Bergius (1730 – 1790) was a Swedish medical doctor and botanist. In 1758 Bergius was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. In 1768 he was elected to membership of the American Philosophical Society. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1770 and a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1785.

The editor, Schjellerup calculates the orbit of the comet of 1580 with base in the unpublished observations of Brahe, publishing his oservations here for the first time. - Brahe observes a comet and follows it until november 25 and in the morning of december 13, 1580.

Indimellem en smule brunplettet, men et nydeligt ekspl. Første tyske udgave. Den danske originaludgave af Ahasverus udkommer i København i december 1847, men bærer trykkeråret 1848 på titelbladet. Denne tysksprogede udgave kunne muligvis med rimelighed hævdes at være den egentlige originale udgave. Orig. decorated full cloth w. gilt back and large gilt-stamped ornamentation to front board. Hinges weak, crudely strengthened from the inside. A bit of brownspotting, but a nice copy. First German edition. The first Danish edition was published in Copenhagen in Decmber 1847, but bears the printing-year 1848 on title-page, -this first German language edition could thus perhaps rightfully be called the actual first edition.
