Catalogue of an exhibition held at the Louvre, Hall Napoleon, April 12-July 12, 1999. - - - "Constituted mainly under the reign of Louis XIV, the collection of Bronzes of the Crown forms a set of small bronzes, among which are Renaissance statuettes, antiques and busts, intended for the ornamentation of the royal apartments. By 1738, the collection numbered three hundred and thirty-five works. In 1788, it was exhibited, along with reductions of royal monuments from the 17th century, in a gallery set up in the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne (now the Hôtel de la Marine, place de la Concorde in Paris). It was seized at the time of the Revolution. Part of the Works was then reserved for the Central Museum of Arts, now the Louvre, while a large lot was used to pay creditors of the Republic. This monograph is the first work since the inventory published in 1791 to bring together all the works that once belonged to the collection of Bronzes of the Crown".
