* Catalogue of the range of industrial products and elements which were produced to Jean Prouvé's design. CIMT and Prouvé formed a joint company in 1957 (after the architect had lost his life's work - the workshop and all his rights and patents - to aluminium manufacturer STUDAL in 1955). One of the facade panels can be seen at The Museum Of Modern Art in New York (object no. 229.2003). **Includes a handwritten letter from M[adeleine] Prouvé (née Schott) addressed to renowned Danish architect Georg Rotne, dated 29 March 1972. The letter discusses a date for a visit by Rotne, to which her husband and she looks forward. ***A trained metal-worker, Prouvé used his skills and talent to unite industrial production with design in several scales: architecture, building elements and furniture. His work embodies the hope, innovation, creativity and love for the human being and the potential of industrial production which defined the avant garde of architecture and design in the early decades of the 20th century. Among much else he is known for his contributions to Maison du Peuple in Clichy (architects Marcel Lods and Eugène Beaudouin), his own house in Nancy (now a museum), the Maisons Tropicales, for working with Le Corbusier and for his influence in choosing Renzo Piano's proposal for the Centre Pompidou in Paris (it's facade inspired by Prouvé's facade for Palais de la Foire in Lille (architect Paul Herbé).
